A level results 2023-2024

Woolwich Polytechnic Sixth Form, rated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, is proud to congratulate the Class of 2024 on their fantastic A-Level Results!

60% of our students achieved A*-B grades, with students securing their offers to Cambridge, Warwick, UCL and Newcastle, amongst others.

Headteacher, Mr Tom Lawrence states, “Our class of 2024 have done themselves proud, achieving some of the best key stage 5 results that we have seen, including those years before the pandemic. Our headline figures show an almost perfect 99.2% pass-rate, and our average grade is an impressive B grade. For those grades that really matter to get into university, A*-C grades, our overall percentages hold up very well indeed with our students achieving at least 86% C grades, 60% B grades, and 23% A and A* grades. These grades mean that the overwhelming majority of our students will access their first-choice universities and high-end apprenticeships; few have had to worry about clearing; many more will be accessing the illustrious Russell Group universities. The results day itself has been a great day of rightful celebration for staff and students.”

Ms Susan Principe, Deputy Head of Sixth Form and Head of Year 13 comments, “It is an honour to celebrate with the students and staff after all the hard work that has been put into place in preparation for this day. Year on year, I am amazed at what our students achieve, and the Class of 2024 did not disappoint. ‘Proud’ is not a strong enough word to describe how I feel about being part of this community and I cannot wait to welcome our largest cohort to date as we expand our Sixth Form in September. Our students are truly ‘Tomorrow’s Leaders’.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2024!

A Level Results 2021-2022

It is with tremendous pride that Woolwich Polytechnic Sixth Form, rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted, celebrates the success of the Class of 2022. Along with their peers across the country, students entered this exam season with no previous public exam experience amidst the turmoil created by numerous lockdowns. However, there is no evidence of these difficulties in the cohort’s results: 51% of students achieved A*-B, with a significant number continuing their academic pathways at Russell Group universities, including Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial, amongst others.

Notable results and destinations were:

  • Peter Wareing - A*AA, History of Art at Oxford

  • Olumide Apanisile-A*A*A*A, Engineering at Cambridge
  • Monica Ohakwa-A*AA, Law at Warwick

I am delighted that we have maintained our outstanding results and the hard work from staff and students has paid off. I am filled with gratitude.” Heads of Year, Ms Susan Principe and Mr Greg Tatton expressed a particular delight in what the year group has achieved. “The resilience this class has demonstrated is unlike anything we have ever seen. To not only come through the pandemic, but to thrive academically and achieve firsts for both themselves and the Sixth Form is incredible. We only hope that they are as proud of themselves as we are of them.”

This sentiment is shared by Head of School, Mr Tom Lawrence, stating, “With another unpredictable and challenging year for our students, we are delighted that, so many are leaving us with excellent grades, going onto the universities of their first choice. I am truly in awe of the talents our students have developed over their years with us and am confident that they will continue to develop their skills further over the next stages of their academic careers. I want to also congratulate our staff who have negotiated the uncertainties with dexterity and sensitivity to support and guide this highly motivated cohort to their A Level and BTEC success.

A Level Results 2019

Woolwich Poly Sixth Form, an OFSTED rated Outstanding sixth form, are celebrating another successful year of Post 16 qualifications. Their motto of “Tomorrow’s Leaders” is certainly pertinent to their diligent Class of 2019 with over half of their students graduating with grades A*-B.

Among the top performers is Kelvin who obtained outstanding results in some of the most challenging courses: Maths (A*), Further Maths (A), Computer Science (A) and Physics (A). He said, “I would like to thank all of my teachers here at the Poly – I couldn’t have done it without them!” Another student, Perfecta, an A* student states, “what a rollercoaster the last two years has been; I can’t wait to see what the future brings. I am so proud of my achievements.” Other students among the top achievers include: Raees (AAB), Fikayo (AAB) and Alex C (AAB).

“We are extremely proud of our students who have achieved grades to be commended in the face of the increasingly rigorous nature of A-Level courses, proving that the high expectations of both students and staff, along with the countless hours of study, has all been worth it!” States Hannah Elliott, Head of Year 13 and Deputy Head of Sixth Form.

Head of Sixth Form, Miss Anne Bassi said: “It is a privilege to work with such wonderful young people. Here at the Poly, we foster a culture of success, as witnessed by today’s celebrations.”

Head Teacher, Mr Plumb, is overjoyed by the results: “This is a fantastic set of results for both the school and the Royal Borough of Greenwich. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, our Governors, and, of course, the students themselves for their sheer determination and hard work!”

It is no surprise that Woolwich Polytechnic is the Sixth Form of choice, for many, in South East London and is substantially oversubscribed.
