Learning
What is the quality of learning and teaching like at Woolwich Poly?
Ofsted: “Leaders and teachers work relentlessly to provide exceptional support for the personal development of their pupils. The school provides a safe place where pupils develop and learn. They receive help to overcome challenges in their own lives and to succeed.”
“The sixth form is outstanding, because students’ outcomes are very strong and the quality of teaching is consistently high. Leaders guide students onto appropriate courses and track their progress carefully. Teachers give timely support for pupils who fall behind with their work.”
Our highly qualified, talented and dedicated teachers are our greatest asset, many of whom are doctors and have worked in previous careers before joining teaching. Our teachers go above and beyond what is expected of a classroom teacher and are all experts in their field. Our teaching is testimony to our track record of academic excellence and success at A Level.
We pride ourselves on planning challenging, innovative and dynamic lessons that ensure our students make exceptional progress during their time at Woolwich Poly Sixth Form. This progress is carefully monitored and tracked by our large Sixth Form Team: each year group has a designated Raising Standard Lead and Learning Mentor to ensure rigour in our approach.
However, learning at Woolwich Poly goes beyond the classroom: we work to support our students in developing their social skills and life beyond the classroom on their journey to self-actualisation as “tomorrow’s leaders”.
